Electronic Document Storage

Similar to household item tracking, this would have less features and would storage document images.
Users could store scans or pictures of their important documents such as a deed, passport, credit cards, or insurance policies.
Users may have concern about the security of their documents.

Commerce Bank has The Vault service with this functionality.

Allow people to upload important documents to an online account. Not a picture sharing site as much as an electronic document vault for important papers (car title, deeds, wills, medical, pic of passport, pic of credit card, account numbers, insurance).
Allow encryption on web site via their password. For those not trusting that method, allow encryption & upload from a small MSWindows application that includes an open source encryption ability.

Basics:
User account creation.
Crappy LAMP-based photo upload/display.
Specific tagging for items.
Mark items as "removed" or just delete them.
Create report/CD of all items for insurance/recovery purposes.

Revenue from displaying ads. Maybe premium subscription for encryption or extra storage.

Santa Monica, CA-based VaultStreet has raised an undisclosed amount of angel funding. The pre-launch, invite-only site allows users to manage and share their various financial documents with tax preparers, financial planners, etc.

Founded in June 2006, the startup's CMO says they were able to reach their year 1 goals of just under $1.8M in revenue. He also says that VaultStreet plans to release its first product out of beta within 90 days aimed at partnerships with financial services providers such as brokerages and banking institutions.
