Wireless weather monitor like "La Crosse Technology The Weather Channel® Wireless Weather Station". It has a base station that receives radio broadcasts from nearby monitor(s).
Make their display hardware obsolete:
Create hardware to also receive those broadcasts and to send that info to a website via Ethernet or WiFi. Create web page for owner's info with reporting, graphs, alarms, ads. Create apps for: TVs, tablets, phones. Allow customizable skins.
The above device is only $25 with one sensor. What would a homeowner pay for another device to liberate their data and display?
Hacks to interface to proprietary sensors have been done. How much $ to make my own generic sensor?
