Streaming TV Devices

Service to allow people to buy/lease/rent the device that is located in a major metropolitan area and receives over-the-air signals and transmits on internet to subscriber's device(s).  Subscribers would probably want TV, though could also send radio (AM FM), police scanner, GPS, etc.

  • Slingbox pushes TV across the web. $150 - $262.
  • Boxee provides unification of media sources streaming to a TV. $200.
  •  XBMC is like Boxee, and just for PCs with no hardware currently offered. Using cheap hardware (atom/netbook), create a device similar to the Boxee and load one partition with linux+xbmc. Load another partition with another linux for dual boot. Add a hard drive and the device can also be network storage.
